On-Ear Hearing Protection for Children
Many parents are aware of the risks loud environments pose to adult hearing, but fewer realize that children are even more affected. Because children’s ears are still developing, they are more sensitive to sound, and more easily overwhelmed.
Protecting children’s hearing early on is essential. But not every solution is suitable for every age group. In-ear hearing protection, such as our -20 dB filter, is only suitable for children aged 10 and older.
That’s why we set out to create a safe, child-friendly alternative specifically designed for younger ears. The result is the Kids Earmuffs, our first on-ear hearing protection, made for younger children aged 5 and up.
The Kids Earmuffs reduce noise by an average of 27 dB (SNR). They are based on the latest research into children’s heightened sensitivity to sound. Like all our products, they meet the highest quality standards and are CE and EN certified by official European testing bodies.
But effective hearing protection for children must do more than just reduce noise. It also needs to work in real life. That’s why the Kids Earmuffs feature an adjustable headband that fits any head size comfortably, making them ideal for growing children. Soft PU foam cushions provide a secure, comfortable fit, even when worn with glasses.
Most importantly, the Kids Earmuffs are made specifically for children’s active everyday lives. They are durable and designed for everyday use, whether at school, at home, or during play. Each pair comes with a sticker sheet that allows children to personalize their earmuffs and truly make them their own.
Good hearing protection starts early
Children’s ears are especially sensitive because their inner ears are still developing. Their ear canals are narrower, which causes sound to be perceived as louder. In addition, their auditory nerves are not yet fully insulated by protective myelin layers. As a result, children are much more sensitive to noise and require greater protection for their hearing.
