Tactical Impulse Hearing Protection (TIHP) Multimode

TIHP Multimode is a passive in-ear hearing protection system designed to address impulse, impact and continuous noise during the same operation. This tactical hearing protection system enables communication, situational awareness and orientation while providing reliable attenuation across changing noise conditions.

Its low-profile design sits within the ear canal, preventing interference with helmets, headsets and over-ear protection systems, and avoiding mechanical contact or friction during movement.

Operating principle

TIHP Multimode operates with two attenuation modes that can be switched directly in the ear without removing the device. Both modes provide protection against continuous and impulse noise, with different attenuation levels.

In open mode, TIHP Multimode provides 19 dB SNR continuous attenuation and impulse protection of up to 35.1 dB IPIL at 166 dB. This supports communication and situational awareness while protecting against sudden peak noise such as gunfire, explosions or metal-on-metal impacts.

In closed mode, continuous attenuation increases to 25 dB SNR, while impulse protection reaches up to 41.9 dB IPIL at 166 dB. This provides increased attenuation in environments with sustained high noise levels, such as combat situations, vehicles or aircraft.

In both modes, impulse attenuation is level-dependent, increasing with the intensity of the impulse noise.
